Lee Hyun-se
Lee Hyun-se (hangul: 이현세; hanja: 李賢世) (June 13, 1956 - ) is a representative cartoonist of Korea, and he was the president of The Korea Cartoonist Association.[1] Now he is the chairman of KOMACON and a professor in the Department of Comic Animation at Sejong University.[1]
Lee Hyun-se was born in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do. He spent his boyhood in Gyeongju, and he graduated from Gyeongju Middle School (hangul: 경주중학교).
He debuted in 1978 with The River Knows (hangul: 저 강은 알고있다) that covers the Vietnam War. His major works include A Daunting Team (hangul: 공포의 외인구단), Mythology of the Heavens (hangul: 천국의 신화), Ring of Hell (hangul: 지옥의 링), Nambul : War Stories (hangul: 남벌; hanja: 南伐), Armageddon (hangul: 아마게돈), Police (hangul: 폴리스), Birdie (hangul: 버디), and others. Actor Joe Sang-gu is an old friend of Lee Hyun-se, and he is the real model for Oh Hyae-sung / (Kkachi), the main character of A Daunting Team.
